TPS62160DSG KiCad symbol and footprint

Texas Instruments 3 V to 17 V, 1 A synchronous step-down converter in a 2 × 2 mm WSON-8. PartSpark generated this schematic symbol and WSON-8 PCB footprint from the part number alone. We then checked every pin and pad against the Texas Instruments datasheet.

WSON-8, 2 × 2 mm, 0.5 mm pitch, exposed pad · 9 pins · 9 pads · footprint WSON-8_DSG0008A_2x2mm_P0.5mm_EP_NoOptionalVias · generated 2026-10-01

What we checked

Checked against the datasheet

Source: TI SLVSAM2E, Pin Functions table and DSG0008A land pattern example. Checked 2026-10-01.

  • All eight pins match the Pin Functions table in TI SLVSAM2E: PGND, VIN, EN, AGND, FB, VOS, SW, PG. The exposed thermal pad is pin 9, which TI says must connect to AGND.
  • Copper matches TI’s DSG0008A land pattern example exactly: 0.5 × 0.25 mm pads at 0.5 mm pitch, rows 1.9 mm apart, and a 0.9 × 1.6 mm thermal pad.
  • TI marks the two thermal vias as optional, so they were left out. Add them in layout if your board needs the extra heat path.
  • The thermal pad’s solder-paste opening is full size. TI’s stencil example prints about 87% coverage on that pad, so shrink or split the paste aperture if you follow TI’s stencil guidance.

To use the files, add the .kicad_sym under Preferences → Manage Symbol Libraries and put the .kicad_mod in a .pretty folder registered under Manage Footprint Libraries with the nickname ProtoFlow.pretty, which is what the symbol’s Footprint field points to. Review the land pattern against your fab’s rules before ordering boards.
