AMS1117-3.3 KiCad symbol and footprint
1 A fixed 3.3 V low-dropout regulator in SOT-223. PartSpark generated this schematic symbol and SOT-223 PCB footprint from the part number alone. We then checked every pin and pad against the Advanced Monolithic Systems datasheet.

What we checked
Checked against the datasheet
Source: Advanced Monolithic Systems AMS1117 datasheet, Pin Connections (page 1). Checked 2026-10-01.
- Pin 1 is GND/ADJ, pin 2 is VOUT, pin 3 is VIN, matching the SOT-223 top view under Pin Connections in the AMS1117 datasheet.
- The datasheet notes the tab is the output, so the footprint has four copper pads for three pins, with the tab numbered 2 (VOUT) to match the symbol.
- The datasheet gives a package outline but no land pattern, so the generator reused the copper of KiCad’s official SOT-223-3_TabPin2 footprint rather than inventing pad sizes.
- The datasheet link the generator found has since gone offline, so we pointed the symbol’s Datasheet field (and the bundles) at the manufacturer’s own copy.
To use the files, add the .kicad_sym under Preferences → Manage Symbol Libraries and put the .kicad_mod in a .pretty folder registered under Manage Footprint Libraries with the nickname ProtoFlow.pretty, which is what the symbol’s Footprint field points to. Review the land pattern against your fab’s rules before ordering boards.
